Fast, Fancy Cars for a Cause!

by | Jul 8, 2021 | Firm News

DelCotto Law Group attorneys and staff know the importance of giving back to their community. Here’s an example of how they do that:

In the middle of July, there is a world-class car show at Keeneland – the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance. (https://keenelandconcours.com/). Cars are brought in from all over the country to be viewed and judged on the beautiful grounds of Keeneland.  You will find everything from Model-T Fords to futuristic supercars in the field, all in showroom condition.  The event benefits the University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital and has generated over $700,000 for this worthy cause.

Dean Langdon, a DLG attorney, has been one of the Concours judges for over a decade.  He’ll tell you there’s nothing quite like putting on a long-sleeve button down shirt and khakis to pore over (and under) unique cars in the middle of July.  Judges are all volunteers, operate in teams of 3 and are assigned to a particular class of cars. Judges are tasked with evaluating both the condition of the cars, and their originality, rating them on a smartphone app unique to the Keeneland Concours. In order to do that properly, the judge must learn about the history and specifications of each car in their class. And the judges have just 20 minutes per car to inspect and rate them!

Dean focuses on cars that were manufactured before World War II and has had the pleasure of judging an electric car from the early 1900’s and a Stanley Steamer – two examples of how our world of travel could have been widely different if they had won out over gas-powered cars. Come out to Keeneland on July 17th this year, support the UK Children’s Hospital, and see some rolling works of art that you can’t see anywhere else!
